* = For Clubs that meet weekly and elect officers twice a year

Pillar #1 -Leadership

Pillar #4-Practice

Club Officers are the leaders who guide the Club to success. They are elected at the first Club meeting in May for a term of one full year or (optional for Clubs that meet weekly) for a half-year term. If elected for a half year, Club Officers

are also elected at the first Club meeting in November.

The Leadership, Planning, and Training is all for the benefit of the Club members.  Club members should have an opportunity to build their communication and leadership skills at every Club meeting.

Pillar #5-Business

Club Officer lists need to be submitted by the end of June (and the end of December for Clubs that have a six-month term). If this does not happen, all correspondence from Toastmasters International may go to the wrong address.

District Officers (e.g., Area and Division Governors) can install new Club Officers.

District Council meetings are held at the District Conferences. Every Club President and VP Education is a member of the council and should either attend the meeting or send in a proxy. All conference attendees are welcome to attend the meeting but only the members of the Council may vote.

Pillar #2-Planning

Area Governors visit Clubs at least once from July to October and at least

One of the first tasks of newly elected Club Officers is to plan. They can begin in June by preparing a calendar of events including District Council meetings, and Area Council meetings, and contests.

District Council meetings are described below, under Business.

once from December to April. The purpose of these visits is to ensure that the Clubs know what is happening in the District and that they can get whatever help they may need.

In December District Officers for the coming year are nominated.

Pillar #6-Growth

Area Council meetings are conducted by the Area Governor in July and January.  Every Club President, VP Education, and VP Membership is a member of the council and should attend the meeting. All Club officers and members are welcome to attend the meeting but only the members of the Council may vote.

Detailed planning for Club contests should begin in July and January. Contests are described below, under Contests.

Special emphasis should be placed on Club growth during August and September, during February and March, and during May.

Club dues should be submitted by October 1 and by April 1. When a Club does not submit dues its members no longer receive "The Toastmaster" and, eventually, the Club will lose its charter.

The Distinguished Club Plan (DCP) should be completed by the Club Officers in July.

Pillar #7-Contests

It is a tool to ensure that the Club focuses on those activities that are critical to its success.

Included in the DCP is membership growth which is described below, under Growth.

Contests are held by the Clubs, Areas, Divisions, Districts, Regions, and by Toastmasters International.

Club contests are held in September and March.

Pillar #3 - Training

Club Officers should be trained by the District in July at the Training and Leadership Institute (TLI). Those who cannot attend the TLI should be trained by the Division or Area Governor by the end of August. Each Division offers training for Club Officers in January or February. Those who cannot attend the scheduled training should be trained by the Division or Area Governor.

Area contests are held in October and March.

Division contests are held in October and April.

District contests are held at the District Conferences in November and May.

The Regional contest is held at the Regional Conference in June.

The International Speech Contest is held at the International Convention in

August.
